Owner-Operators Know: The Right Onboard Equipment Makes All the Difference

To select the right equipment for a cruising yacht, a boatbuilder must understand the goals of the cruiser and their expectations for efficiency, reliability, and ease of maintenance. That’s where Summit Motoryachts benefits from the wealth of experience of the Kadey-Krogen team. These experienced cruisers understand the equipment choices and systems that can elevate the cruising experience. While the latest technology is exciting and holds a lot of promise for the future, cruisers like those on the Kadey-Krogen team know the thrill of independent cruising, and select equipment that is proven, well-engineered, and reliable.

Ask Yourself What Equipment You Really Need for Your Yacht

When owner-operators take a look at the engine room of a 50- to 70-foot yacht they are considering, they should look at several important considerations. Here are a few things to review:

  1. How is the engine room finished? Is there exposed plywood or unfinished fiberglass in plain view?
  2. Is the engine room sized appropriately for the engines themselves?
  3. Is there appropriate room to install all of the equipment in addition to the mains?
  4. Is the equipment installed everything one would want, or are there other systems, such as stabilizers, that would need to be added?
  5. Is there ready and reasonable access to the service points, electrical and plumbing connections, and mounting hardware for all equipment?

These factors are particularly key to owner-operators, and because they know that making maintenance checks and inspections ensures smooth, surprise-free operation.
