Captain Bill Harris

Sales Executive

About

Over the past 10 years alone, he has sold more than 125 Krogens, as well as other makes of boats, and has an extensive list of people to help new owners with their boats during and after the sale.

Learn More

  • Boating is in his blood and it shows in his extreme knowledge of trawlers and general boating.
  • He stands ready to help his clients and owners with anything they might need—for as long as they own their Krogen.
  • Offered a job with Kadey-Krogen Yachts in 2001 when they opened a new office at one of the Florida marinas he managed at the time.
  • Moved to Stuart, Florida, and owned two marinas in Florida.
  • He and his wife, Tracie, bought their own Krogen and lived aboard year-round on the Chesapeake, and he managed several marinas and captained commercial passenger vessels as well as tow boats on The Bay.
  • Volunteered to help Dennis and Joyce Maud commission the third of their seven Krogens, a Krogen 42′, and after that, he jumped at the opportunity to sell Kadey Krogens for the Krogen dealer on the Chesapeake in 1994.
  • Grew up spending half of every year in a house on the shores of Chesapeake Bay and the other half on a farm in Monkton, Maryland. On The Bay he found his true love of boating and it has only grown over the years.

Captain Greg Sapp

Sales Executive

About

Helps others navigate all the challenges to living out their cruising dreams.

Learn More

  • Gets pictures and mail from clients all over the oceans who are living out their own personal brand of adventures of a lifetime, since joining Kadey-Krogen in 2004.
  • Spent a couple of years cruising from New England down through the Caribbean, where the freedom and beauty of the people and places changed him forever and showed him his purpose.
  • As a liveaboard, he wore a suit and tie daily, though he came home to the water every night and by 6:00 on Fridays was usually underway to some beautiful anchorage for the weekend.
  • Found a family in the community of boating and marina culture as a liveaboard, and discovered a home that would protect him from his greatest fear—a boring life!
  • Graduated from the University of Texas, he moved to the East Coast and ended up purchasing a 44-foot trawler instead of a house to live in Annapolis on the Chesapeake Bay.
  • Grew up in a family devoted to voyaging on the water in all forms: From sailing across the Gulf of Mexico in regattas to weeks-long journeys down the Colorado River in canoes, his passion for exploration by water has always been his central priority.

John Gear

Sales Executive

About

As a certified professional yacht broker, he continues to advocate for Kadey-Krogen Yachts and Krogen owners.

Learn More

  • Partner and president of Kadey-Krogen Yachts from 2006 until 2014.
  • Joined the company in 2002 when Krogen moved their operations to Stuart, concentrating primarily on brokerage.
  • A series of fortuitous events led him to purchase the Edward B. Freeman Company in Stuart, Florida, in 1976. Then, in the early 1980s, other business opportunities presented themselves and he changed course for the next 12 years, but he was always close to the water.
  • Grew up on and around the Great Lakes, where his interest in boats started at an early age with homemade rafts, rowboats, ski boats and sailboats.

Larry Polster

Sales Executive

About

Purchased the first Krogen 50’ Open in 2017, and he and his wife, Janet, have been full live liveaboards since 2019, cruising the East Coast between New England in the summer and the Bahamas in the winter.

Learn More

  • Their favorite destination to date has been the pool-clear waters of the Exumas in the Bahamas.
  • Became a partner in the company and served as vice president for 15 years. In 2021, he sold his interest in Kadey-Krogen Yachts but remains an integral part of the sales team.
  • Left his DC-based consulting job to open the Maryland office for Kadey-Krogen Yachts.
  • Intially fell in love with a Krogen 42′ in 2002 and volunteered to help out Kadey-Krogen at the Annapolis Boat Show.
  • Graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University, and his business travels took him to Florida where he purchased and lived aboard a 44′ sailboat. Work eventually brought him back to DC, and Annapolis seemed the logical spot to live aboard and commute.
  • Became thoroughly hooked on boating when he was 12 and piloted his family’s 36-foot Pacemaker the last half of their voyage from Kingston, Ontario, to Rochester, New York, because both parents were too seasick to run the boat.
  • Life-long boater, born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and throughout his childhood explored the Great Lakes from Mackinac Island to Montreal.
